How to Create an Attribution Campaign
Show your clients exactly how their ads drive real business. This guide walks you through ad attribution campaign setup in the Covatic platform, connecting ad exposure to real actions like website visits, sign-ups, and purchases. By giving your advertisers clear, undeniable proof that their campaigns are working, you build the trust needed to keep them happy and grow their spend.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Start Building Your Campaign From the left-hand navigation menu, select Campaigns. Click the blue + icon (Create a new campaign) in the top right corner.
2. Select the Campaign Type On the “What type of campaign are you creating?” screen (Step 1), locate the Attribution card on the right and click Start.
3. Choose Your Outcomes On the “Attribution Campaign” screen (Step 2), select the specific outcomes you want to track. You can select one or multiple outcomes:
-
Purchases: Count purchases made on the client’s website to this campaign.
-
Website visits: Count visits to the client’s website to this campaign.
-
Form fills: Count completed form fills on the client website.
-
Custom: Count any custom action every time the pixel fires from the client’s website.
Once selected, click Next.
4. Enter Campaign Details On the “Campaign Details” screen (Step 3), you must provide two required pieces of information:
-
Campaign Name: Enter a clear, descriptive name (e.g., “Test campaign”).
-
Campaign ID: Enter your unique campaign ID.
(Note: You may also add an optional Advertiser name and Description). Once completed, click Next.
5. Activate Your Campaign On the final “Activate Your Campaign” screen (Step 4), you can copy your custom Pixel Codes so that they can be added to the relevant pages of the advertisers website to track the selected outcomes. (See pixel implementation note below).
Note: The pixel codes are visible and can be copied, emailed, or downloaded directly from this screen, before publishing.
Click Save & Publish to finalise the setup, or click Save as Draft if you need to return to the campaign later before going live.
6. Locate Your Live Campaign Your newly created attribution campaign will now appear on your main Campaigns dashboard with a “Live” or “Draft” status.
7. Access and Share Pixel Codes Click directly on your live campaign’s card to open the Campaign Overview. From this screen, you can view, email (using the envelope icon), copy (using the clipboard icon), or download (using the download icon) your specific Pixel Codes.
Important: Pixel Implementation
Once your campaign is built, tracking will not begin until the pixels are live on the client’s end.
Action Required: You must ask the advertiser to add the generated pixel codes to the relevant pages of their website to track the selected outcomes.
Ensure they follow the specific placement rules provided on the screen. For example:
- Place a “Purchase” pixel only on the final order confirmation page that appears after payment is complete.
- Place a “Form fill” pixel only on the final confirmation page that appears after the form is submitted.
