This short guide walks you through the process of creating a retargeting audience in the Covatic platform. This feature allows you to build a new audience segment composed of users who have already been exposed to a specific ad campaign. The system maps these users by using a designated Order ID from Adswizz or an Order ID from GAM.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Start building your audience: From the main “Build your audience” screen (Step 2 of the creation flow), locate the “Traits” section.

2. Select the retargeting trait: Click the + Retargeting Trait button.

3. Create a new trait: A “Select Traits” modal will open, displaying any existing retargeting traits. To create a new one, click the + Create New button in the bottom left corner

4. Enter trait details: In the “Build Your Retargeting Trait” pop-up, you must provide two pieces of information:

    • Campaign Name: Enter a clear, descriptive name for your trait (e.g., “Pepsi – Autumn Retargeting”).
    • Campaign ID: Enter the exact ID of the campaign you wish to retarget. This must be the Campaign ID from Adswizz or the Line Item ID from GAM.

5. Save and select the trait: Click Save. You will be returned to the “Select Traits” modal, and your newly created trait will be automatically selected. Click the Select Retargeting Traits button to add it to your audience.

6. Proceed to summary: The trait will now appear on the main “Build your audience” page. Once you are satisfied, click Next: Summary.

7. Name and publish your segment: On the final summary page, name your new retargeting segment. After reviewing the details, click Save and Publish.

8. Locate your live segment Your new retargeting segment will now appear on your advertising homepage with a “Live” status. The new segment ID shown on the card is the key-value you will use for targeting in your ad server.

Important: Segment Population

Once your segment is “Live,” it will immediately begin to map users who are exposed to the ads associated with the Order ID you specified.

Recommendation: We strongly recommend allowing the segment to populate for at least two weeks before running new campaigns targeted to this key-value. This ensures a sufficient audience size has been collected for effective delivery.
