Update Segment Status
This guide outlines how to manage and change the status of your Audiences within the Covatic platform to control which Audiences are active and being populated by the SDK.
Feature Overview
Audience segments can exist in one of three states. Manually toggling these statuses allows you to manage your workflow, moving audiences from initial planning (Draft) to active targeting (Live) or long-term storage (Archive).
Status Definition
| Status | Definition |
| Live | The Audience has been sent to the SDK and users are actively being assigned. |
| Draft | The Audience has not been sent to the SDK and users are not being assigned. |
| Archive | The Audience is no longer available and can only be accessed via the “Archived” filter. |
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Locate the Target Segment
From the main Audiences or Advertising dashboard:
- Scroll through your Audience list or use the Filter tool to find the specific segment you wish to update.
- Each Audience card displays its current status badge (e.g., a gray Draft badge or a green Live badge) in the top-left corner.
2. Open the Status Menu
- Hover your cursor directly over the Status Badge on the audience card.
- A dropdown arrow will appear next to the status name.
- Click the badge to reveal the available status transitions.
3. Select the New Status
Depending on the current state of the Audience, choose your desired action:
- To set an Audience live: Select Live. This will initiate the process of sending the segment logic to the SDK.
- To pause an Audience: Select Draft. This stops new users from being assigned to the segment while you make adjustments.
- To remove an Audience: Select Archive.
4. Confirm the Change
- After selecting the new status, a loading spinner may briefly appear on the card as the platform updates the segment’s backend configuration.
- Once the process is complete, the status badge will update to reflect the new state (e.g., changing from grey to green for “Live”).
Success Verification
You can verify the status change was successful by checking the dashboard tabs:
- Live Tab: Confirm the audience appears here if you set it to Live.
- Draft Tab: Confirm it appears here if you moved it back to Draft mode.
- Archive Tab: Click the Archived filter at the top of the audience list to view segments that have been removed from the main view.
Note: Moving a segment to Archive is a final step for segments no longer in use. If you think you might need the audience logic again soon, moving it to Draft is the safer option.
