Duplicate Audience Segments
This guide outlines how to duplicate an existing audience within the Covatic platform.
Feature Overview
The Duplicate feature allows you to create an exact copy of an existing audience. This is highly useful for creating variations of an audience (e.g., changing one demographic trait while keeping the rest) without having to rebuild the entire logic from scratch.
Prerequisites
- A registered Covatic
- At least one existing audience segment in your dashboard.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Access the Audience Details
From your main Audiences or Advertising dashboard:
- Locate the audience you wish to copy.
- Click on the Audience Name (e.g., “Gender – Male”) to open its specific details page.
2. Initiate the Duplicate Command
Once on the Audience details page:
- Look at the top right corner of the screen, next to the “Edit” button.
- Click the three vertical dots (⋮) to open the actions menu.
- Select Duplicate from the dropdown list.
3. Verification of Duplicate
The platform will process the request and immediately redirect you back to the main Audiences list.
- Notification: A green confirmation banner will appear at the top right stating: “Audience duplicated successfully!”
- Naming Convention: The new Audience will appear at the top of your list. By default, it will have the same name as the original (e.g., “Gender – Male”) but will be assigned a new unique ID number and will be set to Draft
4. Edit the Duplicate (Optional)
Since the duplicate is in Draft mode, you can now safely modify it:
- Click the new audience to open its details.
- Click the Edit icon to change the name, add/remove traits, or adjust the Smart Boost settings to create your new variation.
Success Verification
- Dashboard Check: Confirm that two audiences with the same name (but different IDs) now exist in your list.
- Status Check: Ensure the duplicated version is in Draft status, allowing you to refine it before sending the logic to the SDK by setting it to Live.
Pro-Tip: Duplicating is the fastest way to perform A/B testing of targeting parameters. Duplicate a “Live” audience, change one single parameter (like an age bracket), and set the new version live to compare performance metrics.
