Covatic was born as a spin-out from the University of Oxford, where academics specialising in data science joined forces with a group of industry experts to change the way in which broadcasters engage with audiences.
Their aim was to revolutionise the viewing experience of audiences everywhere. Combining the latest machine learning expertise with decades of broadcast industry experience, Covatic is meeting the challenge of building a loyal audience base in today’s fragmented media landscape.

As ex-BBC technology transfer manager and R&D engineer, Nick has a rare insight into the challenges of using technology to improve consumers’ broadcast experience. Heading up the company as CEO, Nick’s extensive knowledge of building dynamic content capabilities for broadcasters has been key to the creation of Covatic’s unique research-based solutions.
Stuart Timms Founder, CTO
Further bolstering Covatic’s broadcast credentials, Stuart brings his experience of working at the BBC as a technical and solutions architect to the role of CTO. His work at Sky, Technicolor, Dolby and Cisco have provided him with invaluable skills in product development, and ensuring that solutions meet and exceed the demands of broadcasters and their customers.

Rob has brought his experience working as a designer, developer and project manager to Covatic. As COO, Rob is taking his passion for the tech start-up world, combined with his skills working in fast-paced environments, to support the company’s next stage of growth.

Bringing thirty-five years’ experience and expertise in content development, consumer change and business strategy. He is a successful international business leader with extensive operational and strategic board level experience from early stage companies, such as Covatic, to established businesses.
Matt Arnold Director
Matt is an Investing Principal at OSI, where he focuses on software and software-enabled businesses. Previously he was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs: first in Fixed Income Analytics and more recently in Strategic Investing (Corporate VC). He has a masters in Information Engineering from Cambridge and was trained and sponsored by the Ministry of Defence Engineering and Science Group.
Professor Bernardo Cuenca Grau Research Founder, Director
A Professor of Computer Science and Supernumerary Fellow at Oriel College at the University of Oxford. He is also a Research Fellow at the Royal Society. He has been involved in the design of several tools for ontology management and reasoning, including LogMap, MORe, SemFacet and PAGOdA.
